Rifiuti radioattivi nell’impianto di Burgesi

Ancora rifiuti radioattivi nel Salento, dopo i due casi verificatosi nel mese di dicembre ad Ugento e i tre di Poggiardo.

Il camion fermato ieri era diretto all’impianto di biostabilizzazione di Burgesi (Ugento). Qui il portale radiometrico posto all’ingresso ha segnalato nei rifiuti trasportati un livello di radioattività 15 volte superiore alla norma: ciò ha allarmato i gestori dell’impianto che hanno prontamente avvisato i vigili del fuoco del nucleare, batteriologico, chimico e radiologico del comando di Lecce.

Dai primi rilievi effettuati dai vigili del fuoco, giunti sul posto insieme ai tecnici dell’Arpa e agli agenti della polizia municipale, è emerso che i rifiuti provenivano dalla raccolta porta a porta effettuata a Tricase nella prima mattinata. Non sono stati rinvenuti, invece, al contrario di quanto avvenuto con il carico del 6 dicembre scorso, rifiuti provenienti dall’ospedale “Cardinale Panico” di Tricase.

Il mezzo pesante, messo in sicurezza, è stato sigillato, in attesa dell’esame dei vigili del fuoco di Taranto, attesi nell’impianto di Burgesi nella mattinata di oggi, per far luce sulla faccenda, al fine di capire, con l’ausilio di specifiche attrezzature, che tipo di sostanze radioattive fossero contenute nel carico di rifiuti.
